Premarital Counseling for Engaged Couples in Maryland

Strong relationships are built on mutual understanding. Premarital counseling gives couples the tools they need to build a successful partnership before marriage even begins. It lays the groundwork for open communication and self-awareness, offering a supportive space to explore each partner’s background, personality, lifestyle, and future goals with the guidance of a trained professional.

Through this process, couples often uncover insights about one another and engage in meaningful conversations they might not have considered otherwise.

When you're newly engaged, it's natural to focus your time, energy, and resources on planning the wedding day. But I encourage couples to also invest in the relationship itself as part of that preparation. A wedding lasts just one day—but your marriage is meant to last a lifetime. Premarital counseling helps ensure that your foundation is strong for the journey ahead.

Mickayla is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, bringing years of professional experience and attunement in tandem with the intuitive Prepare/Enrich assessment. Together, we’ll learn unique insights into your relationship and your individual experiences as you prepare to join together as one.

Let’s see if we might be a good fit!

Premarital Counseling might be right for you if:

  • You and your partner recently got engaged

  • You have an excited attitude and are looking forward to marriage (not just the wedding)

  • Both partners are committed to the investment of time and money for the lifelong betterment of your relationship

  • You’re willing to prioritize time to focus on the relationship in the midst of wedding planning

We won’t be a good fit if:

  • Your relationship is currently in a phase of discernment (i.e. considering a separation)

  • You want a third party to tell your partner why they’re wrong

  • You and your partner are unable to commit to at least 8 90-minute sessions

  • You and your partner are not both committed to strengthening your relationship in preparation for marriage

  • Using your own discernment, you determine your relationship is in need of intensive couples therapy to address complex issues
