Hey, I’m Mickayla
Hi there! My name is Mickayla Waldhauser, LCPC and I offer premarital counseling and individual counseling to adults and young adults who are dealing with adjustments, decision-making, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. Additionally, I have a strong passion for working with individuals in all forms of relationships. Difficulty with these areas of life can happen to anyone, but everyone deals with them differently.
I help people address these challenges by allowing space to breathe, where you don’t have to perform or mask your authentic self. Everything is on the table: the good, the bad, and the awkward. My 5+ years of full time clinical experience provides me with tools to help you find a way to be steady through the chaos.
My mission is to create a warm therapeutic relationship in which you feel fully heard and understood.
My work (along with everything else in my life) is influenced by Christian faith, and I desire to work with anyone who feels their faith should be a major aspect of treatment. However, I strongly value social, spiritual, economic, familial, and cultural diversity, and am eager to learn about your inner world and approach your issues with all of these holistic elements in mind. We will use a variety of treatment approaches during our time together. These may include Motivational Interviewing, ACT, EFT, CBT, Brainspotting, mindfulness/prayer, faith-based counseling, and family systems integration.
Soul Care
My approach draws heavily from a holistic perspective, seeing mental health as a complex, fascinating aspect of human existence rooted in the mental, the physical, the social, and the spiritual. I’m in the business of making room for healing on a soul level, and I use a combination of clinical approaches along with a shepherding posture to support your journey through life’s challenges.
Why People Choose Therapy with Me
Besides my clinical training, I bring a spirit of peace and humor to my work. Therapy with me is like chit-chatting with a pal, but with extra insight, exploration, and intentionality around what you’re dealing with.
This isn’t staring-at-a-blank-slate, impersonal therapy. It’s real talk - a space to decompress - a true (professional) relationship. Everything is on the table, and there’s no such thing as TMI. I bring a lot of my personality to my therapeutic work, and I hope that I’ll get the privilege to see yours as we go!
I will take each small but significant step with you joyfully, bearing your burdens with you and celebrating small victories along the way toward growth. I’m not here to fix or judge - I’m here to help you sort through it all and find your own way forward.
outside the office
When I am not working, I am usually snuggling my toddler & my cats, working on a sewing project, lifting weights, exploring thrift stores, and chatting on the phone with my twin sister.
These are my favorite ways to take care of myself and charge my battery. Also, much of my time these days consists of calling family members and friends in Pittsburgh, watching movies with my husband (I’ve logged over 1k films on Letterboxd) and planning projects to renovate and design in our home!
I’ve been an active member at my local church in Baltimore County for the past several years, and enjoy carving out time to participate in a weekly womens Bible Study to fill my cup and go deeper in my faith.

educational background
I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Geneva College outside Pittsburgh, PA. My history includes working with college students of various socioeconomic backgrounds and individuals recovering from substance abuse in an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Treatment setting.
In my Masters work, I focused all of my electives on Marriage and Family Therapy and worked with women at a pregnancy resource center.
I have also completed the PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator Program in 2024, and am now a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator. I am also a Certified Brainspotting therapist, and greatly enjoy seeing the benefits of this method in my clients’ healing!
